Minimize waste when nesting with FixChip

ARDIS®® supports FixChip directly in your nesting workflow. You get the machining your CNC needs, without sacrificing material yield.

What is FixChip?

——

Traditionally, furniture panels are joined using dowels, which can require a second machining step after nesting to add side drillings.

FixChip is a smart connector that allows the required machining to be done directly during full-sheet nesting, eliminating the need for a second machining step.

Is this relevant for you?

This page is particularly relevant if you:

  • already use or are considering FixChip on a nesting CNC
  • your current CAM solution supports FixChip, but not in the most material-efficient way
  • want to maintain high material yield while producing FixChip parts correctly.

Supporting FixChip is one thing. Nesting it correctly is another.

The 35 mm FixChip side machining extends beyond the part edge.

How most nesting systems handle it

Most nesting systems treat this machining space as part of each individual component. When two FixChip parts are nested next to each other, the same space is taken into account twice.

This negatively impacts the material efficiency of your nesting operations.

Typical approach: the space is booked twice

Plunge in Part A's own spaceThe router bit enters the 35 mm strip reserved for Part A.

03
Plunge into Part B's own spaceA second 35 mm strip is reserved for the same operation.

ARDIS® handles this differently

ARDIS® understands the FixChip machining geometry and sets the nesting clearance accordingly. The required machining remains fully possible, without sacrificing material yield.
